Our Sign Language Program
For People 1 to 92
At The Change Connectionin Los Angeles, our sign language instruction methods are straightforward and designed for optimum communication. We offer an 8-week program that teaches deaf children and their families the communication skills they need for everyday life: shopping, bathing, eating, household chores, etc. We provide flash cards for daily use, a pocket dictionary, and a book for reading. We also go through the home and label specific items for identification and recognition.
Leave No Child Behind
It’s not only the parents' responsibility to raise a child; it is also the responsibility of the village, educators, local businesses and neighbors next door. One cannot raise a child alone. The Change Connection offers children, their families and caregivers support, encouragement, hope and love so that everyone can lead successful and fulfilling lives.
Resources
All families will receive a copy of the book The Silent Garden by Paul Ogden, which is a must-read for parents with deaf or hard of hearing children. We are also inspired by the beautiful work of George E. Miller, a famous illustrator and creator of multicultural and children’s advocacy artwork.
